River Raisin Ragtime Revue CD Design
The River Raisin Ragtime Revue (R4) is a professional orchestra dedicated to preserving and reviving Ragtime, a musical genre that thrived from 1890 to 1917 and featured prominent black classical musicians. I was commissioned by the Music Director/Producer and Orchestrator/Arranger to design the Christmas Ragtime CD jacket, CD, poster, and flyer. The typography used is reminiscent of 1915 Christmas flyers and Ragtime posters, characterized by ornamental and whimsical styles, often in red and green colors. This blend of Ragtime and Christmas is visually cohesive due to their shared aesthetic qualities. Additionally, I created a flyer and poster for their upcoming event titled “A Ragtime Christmas.” The CD is available for purchase on their website and can be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and Amazon Music.
